You may be wondering whether to write my name as Casiulis or Kasiulis. It’s understandable, as I use both in different contexts.

Long story short, the original Lithuanian name is Kasiulis (yes, like this guy)… but the French administration Frenchified it as Casiulis in the 1960s, while letting my family still use Kasiulis as a preferred name.

As it happens, I do prefer Kasiulis, as the two writings map to different pronunciations in Lithuanian. So, if you need my name to write official documents, please use Casiulis (the name that appears on my ID) but if you want to write my name in a less case-sensitive context (conference programme, informal email, press coverage), please feel free to make me happy and write it as Kasiulis.

As a note to scientists: I use Casiulis when penning science papers, but I have used Kasiulis whenever I could for outreach projects, so that my videos and papers associated to the Lutetium Project use Kasiulis.
